Tennessee Volunteers head football coach Butch Jones has been on a hot streak in recruiting to start off this week, as he and his staff picked up another commitment Tuesday evening, marking the third straight day the Vols have landed a recruit.
Alexis Johnson, a 3-star junior college defensive tackle out of Jonesboro, Georgia, committed to the Vols Tuesday evening. Johnson is the 3rd best JUCO defensive tackle in the country according to 247Sports and chose the Vols over Arizona, Kentucky, Baylor, and others. Johnson will play at Fort Scott Community College in 2015.
Johnson measures in at 6-foot-4, 300 pounds and accumulated 46 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss, and forced 2 fumbles in 2014. Johnson gives the Vols their 12th commitment in the class of 2016 and their first from a true defensive tackle.
Johnson is the third player in three days to commit to the Vols, joining 3-star tight end Austin Pope (Monday) and 3-star 2017 DE Jordon Riley (Sunday) as prospects to commit to Tennessee this week. With the Orange Carpet Weekend coming up this weekend, even more commitments could be on the horizon for the Vols.
