The schedule for the 2016 season of Tennessee Volunteers baseball has been announced by the University. The schedule includes 26 non-conference games alongside the 30 conference matchups. The Vols will open the season in Chattanooga with a three game series against the Memphis Tigers at AT&T Ballpark, home of the Chattanooga Lookouts. The next two weekends they will travel to tournaments at Grand Canyon (featuring games against Grand Canyon, Saint Mary's, and Central Michigan) and Eastern Carolina (with ECU, Maryland, and Southeastern Louisiana). Coach Dave Serrano's former team UC Irvine, who took two of three against the Vols in Irvine last season, will travel to Knoxville for a three game series in early March.
In SEC play, the Vols will host Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida, and LSU. They will travel to Alabama, South Carolina, Auburn, Missouri, and Georgia. Three of Tennessee's conference foes made the College World Series last season (Florida, Vanderbilt, and LSU), with Vandy losing in the Championship to Virginia.
