You made it.
The best 13 weeks of the year begin tonight at 6:00 PM ET in The Battle of Carolina. A full weekend follows; check out the full television schedule for tonight below. This is your open thread for all of tonight's action. Enjoy.
It's also still not too late to get in our free confidence points picks contest at Fun Office Pools. If you're new to the game, you can sign up for a free account and then search for the Rocky Top Talk 2015 group. We pick 20 games every week; you put 20 points on the pick you feel most confident in, 1 point on the pick you feel least confident in, etc. You have to get your picks in before kickoff of each game, so you can do a quick sign up and only pick tonight's games (which includes the 1:00 AM Colorado/Hawaii game) and still have time to pick Friday-Monday later.
Each Thursday we use the picks pool to get a sense of how Tennessee fans are feeling about the Vols and the other college football action of the week. Here's the trending report for week one as of Thursday afternoon:
- 100% are taking the Vols to beat Bowling Green, placing an average of 17 confidence points on the Vols. This trails only Oklahoma State over Central Michigan tonight with 18 confidence points on average as the most confident pick of the week.
- 82.7% are going with the Gamecocks over the Tar Heels in the season opener.
- 50.5% take Western Kentucky at Vanderbilt tonight in a pick race sure to be more thrilling than the actual contest.
- 65.5% take Utah at home in the Harbaugh debut (Harbeut? Harbeugh?)
- A whopping 94.2% like Boise State on the blue turf tomorrow night against Washington and former coach Chris Petersen.
- 96.7% take Auburn in the Georgia Dome over Louisville on Saturday.
- It's less sure for Texas A&M against Arizona State, with 63.7% taking the Aggies in Houston.
- 89% take Notre Dame at home over Texas Saturday night.
- Four brave souls picked Wisconsin to beat Alabama, which is three more than picked Virginia Tech to beat Ohio State.
