Fortunately for us Vols fans at this point, though, there is actually still a relatively small chance at a trip to Atlanta, even if the playoff dreams are gone. So we won't be looking at this week's college football schedule to see how the Top 25 might impact the Vols, but we will still be keeping an eye on the SEC East race. Here are the standings:
CONF | OVERALL | HOME | ROAD | NEUTRAL | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Florida | 4-1 | 6-1 | 4-0 | 1-1 | 1-0 |
Kentucky | 4-2 | 5-3 | 4-1 | 1-2 | 0-0 |
Tennessee | 2-3 | 5-3 | 3-1 | 1-2 | 1-0 |
Georgia | 2-4 | 4-4 | 1-2 | 2-1 | 1-1 |
South Carolina | 2-4 | 4-4 | 3-2 | 1-2 | 0-0 |
Vanderbilt | 1-3 | 4-4 | 2-2 | 2-2 | 0-0 |
Missouri | 0-4 | 2-6 | 2-3 | 0-3 | 0-0 |
The long shot to Atlanta includes Tennessee winning out (including a win over Kentucky) and Florida losing two more games. Not much to pin your hopes on, but something to root for.
And with that, here is this week's TV schedule, curated for Vols fans:
Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016
The Noon Slate
Matchup | Time (ET) | TV / Online |
---|---|---|
(4) Texas A&M at Mississippi State | Noon | SECN / WatchESPN |
This is just a warm up and just for fun. No real rooting interest here, except to the degree you want the Aggies to continue to look good.
The Afternoon Slate
Matchup | Time (ET) | TV / Online |
---|---|---|
(11) Florida at Arkansas | 3:30 pm | CBS / Stream |
Tennessee Tech at Tennessee | 4:00 pm | SECN Alt. / WatchESPN |
Woo pig sooie and Gol Vols.
The Evening Slate
Matchup | Time (ET) | TV / Online |
---|---|---|
(1) Alabama at (13) LSU | 8:00 pm | CBS / Stream |
(10) Nebraska at (6) Ohio State | 8:00 pm | ABC / ESPN3 |
None of this really has much of a potential impact on the Vols, but if our longshot to Atlanta happens, the winner of that Alabama-LSU game will have an impact on the opponent.
