The son of VFL and former Pro Bowler Dale Carter, Nigel Warrior is an elite defensive back and difference maker on the back end of the defense. With all of the attention surrounding Tennessee's pursuit of defensive linemen Derrick Brown and Jonathan Kongbo, four star safety commit Nigel Warrior has flown a bit under the radar, often known more for his famous father than his own exploits -- but once he arrives on campus, Warrior has the type of talent to blaze his own trail. Warrior teamed with top 2017 safety Deangelo Gibbs to form a formidable defensive back tandem for Georgia high school powerhouse Peachtree Ridge, losing in the second round of the Georgia State High School playoffs. On the field, Warrior flashes tremendous speed and athleticism as he shows off the range to cover from sideline to sideline. Warrior has ideal size for a safety, although he'll need to add weight to his frame to survive the pounding of the SEC. Defensive coordinator Bob Shoop is likely to slot Warrior into the free safety position beside fellow Vol Todd Kelly, Jr. It's always tough to project a true freshman into the starting lineup, but it's not out of the question with both LaDarrell McNeil and Brian Randolph moving on that he could start from day one. If not, expect Warrior to be an absolute terror on special teams.
