The Vols finish up their four game home stand tonight as they host Tennessee Tech in their first nationally televised match up of the year. They are looking to get back to winning after dropping two of three against the Ole Miss Rebels over the weekend.
Last week Tennessee went 2-2. They opened the week with a midweek victory at UNC Asheville before returning home to open SEC play against #8 Ole Miss. The Vols won the opener in a pitchers duel on a walk off RBI single by Derek Lance in the bottom of the 9th. They then fell in the next two games 6-4 and 10-7 after falling behind early in each. 25 Vols were left stranded on base over the weekend, helping to seal the defeats.
Tennessee leads the all time series against TTU 67-29-1. The Vols won the last meeting 10-1 back in 2014 in Cookeville. The Golden Eagles have won two of the last five though including the last Knoxville meeting.
The Golden Eagles are currently on a four game winning streak, defeating Kennesaw State last Wednesday before sweeping UT Martin over the weekend.
Next up this week is a trip to Tuscaloosa for a three game series against #22 Alabama starting Friday.
