Thursday runs a 4.4 40
- Yesterday at Neyland-Thompson Sports Complex Tennessee held its annual Pro Day, with seventeen players participating. Brian Randolph went nuts, with 31 reps on the 225-pound bench press and clocking a 4.40 40 yard dash, which would have ranked him first and second among all safeties at the '16 Combine, respectively. OL Kyler Kerbyson (32 bench press reps) and Marquez North (4.42 40, improving on his 4.48 at the Combine) were other standouts.
- ESPN is reporting they've obtained phone records showing coach Butch Jones had two telephone conversations with former player Drae Bowles on Nov. 16, 2014, the day a woman party to the pending Title IX lawsuit said two UT players sexually assaulted her. In addition, the records show six calls with A.J. Johnson, four calls with Curt Maggitt, and multiple calls with law enforcement that day. In an amendment to the Title IX complaint last month, Bowles alleged in an affidavit Maggitt punched him in the mouth in a confrontation over the assault.
Butch Jones replied to the reports in a statement, "Anytime we have a disciplinary issue with a player, we have as many conversations as needed with players, parents, law enforcement, whomever, until we can be sure that we are making the best decision possible. [...] I am very comfortable with everything Drae, Mr. Bowles, and I discussed, and I wish him nothing but the very best. My intent was to support Drae and make sure he was ok."
