Today the Vols are back on the road as they travel to Johnson City to take on ETSU. Tennessee looks to get back to winning after dropping two straight games and three of the last four.
Tennessee hosted Western Kentucky last night, and for the first time this season the offense was completely shut down. The Vols only managed five hits all night and failed to get a runner across the plate. Western Kentucky took the early 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning with four straight two out hits. They added two more runs in the 3rd after two errors with two outs. The Hilltoppers added two additional runs late to give them the 6-0 victory in Knoxville.
Tennessee leads the all-time series against ETSU 60-16. The Vols won both match ups last year but have only won 5 of the last 12 meetings.
ETSU were picked to finish 7th in the Southern Conference this season in their preseason coaches poll. The Bucs hosted Purdue last weekend and defeated the Boilermakers in three of four games. They also won their midweek match up last night against North Carolina A&T 17-5 thanks in part to four home runs (two of which were by the brother of former Vol Drake Owenby).
After tonight the Vols return to Knoxville to host UC Irvine for a three game series this weekend. The first game is Friday at 5 p.m.
