The Vols are back home this weekend as they host two top 20 ranked opponents over the next two weeks. This weekend the top ranked Florida Gators are in town. Tennessee is currently last in the SEC, one game behind a four team log jam for the final three SEC Tournament spots. Last weekends 0-3 performance against Missouri has slimmed the chances for the Vols to make it to Hoover.
Not much can be said about last weekend's series. The Vols had the lead in each of the three games but could not maintain it in any of them and were swept by the Missouri Tigers.
Tennessee trails Florida in the all-time series 83-147. The Vols have not won a series against the Gators since 2008 and have only picked up five games in the seven series since then. Last season saw Tennessee win the opening game 6-3 before falling in the final two 3-8 and 4-9.
Florida enters the weekend as the consensus #1 ranked team in the nation. Last weekend saw them win Friday's opener against South Carolina 5-4 before falling 1-2 on Saturday to split the series after a rain out Sunday. They added a midweek win against Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday 7-1.
Next week the Vols continue their home stand as they host Belmont on Tuesday and LSU for a weekend series. They follow that up with ETSU next Tuesday at home before a season ending road trip to Athens to take on Georgia.
