Butch Jones, Josh Dobbs, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, and Cam Sutton will make their way through SEC Media Days this afternoon. You can catch the action on the SEC Network and online at Watch ESPN. Knoxville’s Sports Radio WNML is also broadcasting live from the event.
What we expect Butch Jones to be asked to talk about:
- The settlement in the Title IX lawsuit, which was done in part so today might be one of the last times Jones has to answer this question in front of this large an audience. His answers should speak to the progress Tennessee wants to continue to make in shaping its culture and the education in personal development his players are receiving to help ensure today actually is one of the last times he’s asked about it.
- Florida’s 11-year win streak and comments from Gators like Jalen Tabor and Jarrad Davis. The only answer here is winning in September.
- Bristol, baby.
- Being the presumptive favorite in the SEC East when the program hasn’t won it or nine regular season games since 2007.
- How Team 120 can learn from the mistakes of Team 119 at the end of games last season, the primary culprit in why last year’s team only won eight.
- Shooooooooooooooooooooop.
What will dominate the Butch Jones word cloud? Returning favorites such as individual, critical, process, one Tennessee, and snap & clear are all on the board. I think we’ve already seen peak brick by brick and expect it to slide further down the list. There will no doubt be love shown to Pat Summitt and Peyton Manning. I’m curious to see how often Butch throws out any form of the word championship. Aren’t we all?
