A Nashville standout is Vol-bound, roster notes, VFLs in the NFL and more: it’s your Tuesday links!

Why you live off of the hype bruh?
Morning yall. Following Tennessee’s #10 ranking in the preseason Coaches Poll, expectations keep piling up: yesterday ESPN ranked Tennessee #9 in their CFB preview, while SI’s Fox’s Stewart Mandel is projecting a Vols vs. Tide SEC Championship Game. Interestingly, the big-media pick for #2 in the East looks to be falling to Florida, not Georgia. Stranger Things, indeed.

Roster Stuff
Another day, another preseason list for Josh Dobbs: yesterday Dobbs was added to the Manning Award watchlist. Deshaun Watson and Baker Mayfield were also among the 30 quarterbacks named.

The Vols finished two-a-days Monday night in full pads at Neyland. Evan Berry and FR WRs Latrell Williams and Brandon Johnson didn’t play due to injury, but all three are expected back by the end of the week.

This is a good and correct opinion:

All of the lights
Elite ‘17 running back Ty Chandler (247 4* RB, No. 6 RB Nationally) of Nashville’s Montgomery Bell Academy committed to the Vols Monday, choosing Tennessee over Georgia, USC(w), The Ohio State, LSU, basically everybody. Said Chandler, ““Why not Tennessee? I just felt like it’s a great opportunity, and an opportunity to possibly come in and play as a freshman.” ::thumbs up::

Whatever, there’s no cool song references for bric a brac
Yeah so the paid administrative leave of director of football operations Chris Spognardi mentioned here last week still appears to be something of a mystery, related somehow to an internal financial audit which “found irregularities related to his job,” according to an anonymous source quoted by GVX. Spognardi, pictured here in his official University photo evidently wearing a suit stolen from his dad, has been a part of Butch Jones’ staffs at Tennessee, Cincinnati, and Central Michigan.

While preseason NFL football is unwatchable trash, a few VFLs made the most of it, starting with the excellent Curt Maggitt, who had an impressive three TFLs for the Colts on Saturday. CP and Arian Foster were both held out of preseason, because duh, while Dallas Thomas started with the first team at left guard for Miami, ahead of much the ballyhooed Laremy Tunsil. Meanwhiles, Matt Darr kept on doing Matt Darr things, landing three punts inside the 20, with a long of 56 yards.

The Big Lead came out swinging Sunday with ‘Tennessee's "25 Points" Is Blaming Players For Coaching Errors,’ though to be honest it arguably ends up going a little easy on the coaching staff, depending on your viewpoint.

This is apparently the “let’s talk about the worst loss by your team you can remember” section of the offseason, with the Tennessean the latest to chime in (taking their cue from ESPN, who asked a bunch of coaches the same question. Dave Clawson lists a loss he took while OC at Villanova HARHARHAR). We dunno you guys- LINKS drinks too much to remember much before last season, but I swear that Oklahoma game last year broke something inside us. It’s just... gone... and now there’s just a hollowed out empty space that used to have something special and real and honest and good that will never come back and aaaaaaaaannnyways: the UNC bowl debacle and literally every Florida game for the last decade also stand out, I guess. Those were rough games. Any takers? Leave it in the comments.

If it’s Tuesday, it’s POSSUM NEWS
As noted in this space previously, Australians are liars and have liar possums; they also will apparently give you flesh-eating ulcers. Australia: stay away from it. You’ve been warned.

An American poem:

He was a surprise of white: his teeth

like knives, his face a triangle

of albino dislike.

That poem, only totally not, in video form [mild cussing]:

Happy Tuesday!
