Tennessee Football: Butch Jones updates the injury report

“For the most part, we came away from the game very healthy,” Tennessee head coach Butch Jones said on Monday at his weekly press conference. He followed that statement up with a few updates on players that were injured in the previous weeks, giving us some positive developments.

Evan Berry is going to be at practice starting today. We are very encouraged that he’s going to practice,” Butch Jones said. Jones wouldn’t commit to Berry being able to play on Saturday against Alabama, however. Berry hasn’t played since the season opener in Atlanta against Georgia Tech.

Jones also announced that kicker Aaron Medley will be out “for an extended period of time” with an undisclosed illness. Freshman Brent Cimaglia takes over the full time job after going 3-3 against South Carolina.

Defensive end Darrell Taylor is still suspended indefinitely. Jones said that he has some expectations and criteria to meet before they’ll consider playing him once again. The impact defender was suspended indefinitely following a practice fight that resulted in Trey Smith needing stitches for his face.

Jones also announced that tight end Jakob Johnson will be back at practice today after missing the past couple of games.
