Tennessee is in a tough spot. Butch Jones and his squad are currently 0-3 in SEC play, which has dialed the pressure up to 11. Jones and his staff had put together a phenomenal 2018 class over the summer, but that class has began to crumble as uncertainty creeps in on Jones’ future.
One of Tennessee’s big flips was Shocky Jacques-Louis. Jones was able to wrestle him away from the Kentucky Wildcats, who he was committed to earlier in the summer. That commitment to Tennessee is anything but solid, however. Look what the receiver said after his game earlier this week.
“To be honest, I’m still committed to Tennessee, but I am definitely looking at other options due to, uh, certain situations at Tennessee,” Jacques-Louis said.
“The situation” is head coach Butch Jones being squarely on the hot seat after a 3-3 start to the season. Jones is 14-21 in SEC play as Tennessee’s head coach.
“Coach [Butch] Jones, I love him to death, but I’d be a fool to go there and he’ll just end up missing, ya know?”
Here’s the full update from Bud Elliott.
Jacques-Louis is a three star prospect. Kentucky is still coming hard after him too. He recently took a visit to Michigan as well. Shocky noted that Larry Scott was a key piece of why he’s currently committed to Tennessee.
Elliott notes that Jacques-Louis plans on taking advantage of the new early signing period. If the coaching situation isn’t resolved and cemented by then (December 20th), don’t expect him to land in Knoxville.
