Butch Jones: “Tennessee is not okay with being 3-4”

Obviously.

Tennessee head coach Butch Jones faced the media on Monday in his weekly noon time slot. Jones and Tennessee fell to 3-4 on the 2017 season, following a 45-7 loss to Alabama.

He didn’t waste much time at the podium before telling everyone that what is happening isn’t acceptable at Tennessee.

“I wanna make sure that we make this clear. Tennessee is not okay with being 3-4 — and definitely Butch Jones is not okay with being 3-4,” Jones said.

After a 3-1 start, the Tennessee Volunteers have dropped three consecutive games to the likes of Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama.

“We have to keep working and work our way through this and work our way out of this. We have to learn from our seven prior games,” Jones said. “How do we apply those experiences from the past games and apply it to our preparation this week and moving forward?”

The schedule really lightens up as the season’s end draws near. It seems highly unlikely that Jones could save his job at this point, but Tennessee AD John Currie hasn’t slammed that door shut... yet.

I feel like a broken record at this point, but we’ll see if Butch and Tennessee can get up off of the mat this time. They haven’t been able to the past three times.

Saturday night at Kentucky is going to be fascinating.
