Many thought that a potential loss to Kentucky would be the breaking point for Tennessee. That doesn’t appear to be the case, at least on the outside looking in.
Jimmy Hyams gave us an update this morning. According to him, don’t expect any change today — or this week.
A well-placed source told me UT has not called a press conference for today or this week regarding UT coach Butch Jones’ status.

While many believe Jones will not survive this season, another source told me Jones will coach the Southern Miss game Saturday.

Does that mean Jones will survive the season? No.

But it does indicate he will survive the week.
Tennessee has Southern Miss up next. It’s homecoming at Neyland Stadium. You can’t help but wonder what attendance will look like. Everyone knows what’s coming, we just don’t know when. At 3-5, it’s hard to get excited for any game — much less a contest against Southern Miss.
The Vols have four games left on their schedule. Southern Miss, LSU, at Missouri and Vanderbilt. Jones will have to win three of those four to even make a bowl game. At least for now, Currie is content with sitting still for another week.
