College football recruiting: 4 star OL Jerome Carvin to visit Tennessee this weekend

Big deal.

SB Nation Recruiting

Big time in-state talent needs to stay in the state of Tennessee. That was a goal that new Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt laid out in his press conference last week. So far, he’s practicing what he’s preaching — although he’s playing from behind with most of these guys.

However, it seems like he’s made some gains in the last few days. One of those with which he’s made gains with is four star offensive lineman Jerome Carvin. Pruitt and his staff have at least convinced Carvin to drop a visit to Gainesville in order to come to Knoxville this weekend, per Austin Price of Volquest.com.

Carvin is a native of Cordova, Tennessee. I don’t have to tell you that Tennessee needs bodies up front — that much was obvious watching the Vols finish their dreadful 4-8 season.

Carvin would add some big time beef for Tennessee, standing in at 6-4, 330 pounds. Auburn, Florida and Mississippi State have been out in front for Carvin, but that could all change quickly with a new staff in place at Tennessee.
