Early Signing Period: Former Tennessee Commit Cade Mays Signs With Georgia

The former Tennessee commit will play elsewhere in the SEC East.

Five-star Knoxville Catholic offensive lineman and former Tennessee commit Cade Mays has signed his National Letter of Intent with the University of Georgia.

Mays is rated as the 16th-best prospect over all in the 2018 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings (0.9911). He de-committed from Tennessee on November 7 after being committed for more than two years.

Mays would have obviously been a huge get for Tennessee, but the turmoil of the 2017 season and change in coaching staff was apparently just too much to overcome for the Volunteers.

It’s going to be difficult to watch Mays play in the SEC East for at least the next three years, but it’s understandable why he had to eventually look elsewhere when Tennessee waited so long to make a change and then went through one of the most tumultuous coaching searches in recent memory.
