2017 Meet the Class - Linebackers

Here’s a look at the newest linebackers coming to Knoxville.

NCAA Football: Music City Bowl-Tennessee vs Nebraska Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

ILB Will Ignont, 6-2, 230 lbs, New Market, Ala.

Will Ignont is the highest-rated linebacker for Tennessee in 2017, rated as a 4-star recruit by both the 247Sports Composite (0.8939) and Rivals (5.8). Ignont committed to the Volunteers on October 26 over offers from Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida State and Louisville, among others. He is rated by 247 as the #16 inside linebacker in the 2017 class. Watching his film, you can see why Ignont had his choice of schools and why he was rated so highly. Hopefully his talents transfer well into Bob Shoop’s defense.

OLB Solon Page III, 6-2, 207 lbs, Marietta, Ga.

Solon Page is rated as a high 3-star prospect by both the 247Sports Composite (0.8619) and Rivals (5.6). Page committed to Tennessee back in April 2016, becoming one of the first commits in Butch Jones’s 2017 class. Page chose the Vols over other offers from Louisville, North Carolina, Pitt and Northwestern, among others.

OLB Shanon Reid, 6-1, 202 lbs, Ft. Myers, Fla.

Shanon Reid was rated as a 3-star recruit by both the 247Sports Composite (0.8614) and Rivals (5.5). Reid chose the Vols in December over some other impressive offers, including Michigan, LSU, Miami and North Carolina. He then had a quick turnaround, as Reid was one of the five Tennessee recruits to enroll in January. Reid id already on campus at UT and will be able to take part in spring practice.
