Five SEC teams in the field and four of them in favorable first round match-ups is definite improvement in a year when Tennessee showed the same improvement despite missing out on postseason play again thanks to a late 3-7 slide. It’s the first time the Vols have missed the NIT and NCAA for three consecutive years since the last two Wade Houston years and the first Kevin O’Neill season in 1993-95.

Still, this week is always fun and there are plenty of UT connections in the bracket thanks to an incredibly difficult schedule. There’s more to come there: Villanova, Arizona, and Purdue will all join the Vols in the Battle 4 Atlantis in the fall.
