2017 Bowl Projections: Where will Tennessee land?

It’s May 15 and you bet I looked at every last bowl game.

Spring practice has come and gone. The NFL Draft much the same. I miss football. You miss football. And we have the sweltering Tennessee summer months to survive before we can descend upon Neyland Stadium once again.

But luckily, 247Sports has released its first batch of 2017 bowl projections. 247 has Tennessee playing Pittsburgh in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

The SEC representative in the Liberty Bowl each of the past three years has had a record of 7-5 in the regular season. So in the view of 247, the Vols might actually take a step back from the maligned 8-4 records Butch Jones’s teams have produced the last two years.

Obviously a lot will change between now and Labor Day, but it’s interesting to see where at least some people think Tennessee will be this season.

247 projects the College Football Playoff to include Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and Alabama, with Alabama and Florida State meeting for the national championship in Mercedes-Benz Stadium - where they will also meet to open the season just two days before Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
