Tennessee Recruiting Round-Up: Vols lose a RB commitment, other notes

Some quick nuggets.

NCAA Football: Music City Bowl-Tennessee vs Nebraska Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The big news of the week so far is that running back Jashaun Corbin has backed out of his commitment to Tennessee. Corbin gave the Vols a verbal just last month, but will open back up his recruitment once again. He was the lone running back commit of Tennessee’s 2018 class.

Other notes

  • In-state (Murfreesboro) running back Master Teague announced on twitter that a decision is coming “soon.” Tennessee is in the running for Teague, but South Carolina and Auburn are thought of as the favorites. Running back is a need on the roster. With Corbin’s decommitment, maybe Butch spends some extra time on Teague this week in a hail mary attempt.
  • Tennessee has offered Florida cornerback Brandon Cross a scholarship. Cross is a 5-10 185 pound three star from the Orlando area.
  • Former Vol DiMarya Mixon announced that he will join SMU. Mixon was a reserve for Tennessee, but decided to leave the program in March. He noted that there were no hard feelings and that he would “be a VFL forever.”
  • After including Tennessee in his final possible schools, Texas Tech transfer Jonathan Giles has decided to transfer to LSU. The big time receiver will have to sit out a season, but should be an impact player for the Tigers in 2018.
