About a month ago, Louisville graduate transfer cornerback Shaq Wiggins announced he would spend his final year of eligibility at Tennessee.
I have made my decision and I will continue to finish my career at the University of Tennessee !!!!!
— Shaquille Wiggins (@ShaqWiggins6) April 26, 2017
But apparently that was not the end of Wiggins’s decision-making process, as he is currently visiting Mississippi State.
New MSU defensive coordinator Todd Grantham was Wiggins’s coordinator at Georgia and Louisville, so there is cause for concern. MSU cornerbacks coach Terrell Buckley also coached Wiggins at Louisville in 2015.
Wiggins would be a huge upgrade for Tennessee in the secondary and add a veteran presence to a defense losing key contributors to the NFL.
Losing out on Wiggins would be a huge blow for Bob Shoop’s defense for 2017. Behind Emannuel Moseley and Justin Martin, the Vols don’t have much experience at cornerback.
Wiggins is expected to be in Starkville at least through today.
