Tennessee-Kentucky Opens as a Pick-Em in Vegas

Vegas thinks Tennessee and Kentucky are pretty close.

Woo boy. South Point Casino in Las Vegas has release some opening lines for the bigger games of the college football season. On that list is Kentucky-Tennessee, which checks in as a pick ‘em. The game is at Kentucky this year, so that likely bumps the Wildcats up a couple of points here.

The game last year in Knoxville closed with Tennessee as 14 point favorites. Vegas nailed that one. The Vols were in control of that one for most of the day, but that was around the time the defense really starting heading south.

Kentucky ran for 443 yards, but luckily for Tennessee they couldn’t stop Josh Dobbs and Alvin Kamara — but those guys won’t be there this time around.

The last time the Vols lost to Kentucky was that bizarre game where receiver Matt Roark played quarterback and led the Wildcats to a 10-7 win in 2011.

I wrote just a couple weeks back that Vegas had Tennessee pinned for 7.5 wins, which is superior to Kentucky’s projected 6. This line is sure to move around plenty between now and November, but it is an interesting indication of where the wise guys in Vegas have Tennessee slotted.
