Hyams says that the arrest stemmed from an altercation with his longtime friend and roommate Kennedy Foster — a male — who he shared an off campus house with. The Smith family attorney says that he believes Josh isn’t guilty of a crime and has cooperated with authorities to this point.
Smith caught just 13 passes last season for 97 yards in 2016, but figures to see plenty of time on the field this season. Tennessee is set to open their season in Atlanta on September 4th against Georgia Tech.
We will update this story with any details that we learn throughout the day.
