Tennessee Football Countdown: 12 More Mondays Until Gameday

We are inching closer and closer.

TENNESSEE V ALABAMA

We get a unique opportunity this year as Tennessee fans. The Vols open with a stiff non-conference test against Georgia Tech in Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but there’s a catch. The game will take place on a Monday night, totally free of distraction from other games and set to attract a national audience.

Because of that, our countdown will take place every Monday instead of every Saturday. With that, our countdown will start at 12.

With Tennessee football, the number 12 starts with Marcus Nash. Nash was one of Peyton Manning’s targets during his time at Tennessee, amassing 2,447 yards and 20 touchdowns during his career. Nash’s final season was far and away his best. He posted a 76-1170-13 stat line in 1997, helping the Vols to an SEC Championship in 1997.

He provided us with one of the most iconic plays in Tennessee football history, giving the Vols the lead here in Atlanta late.

Quinten Dormady will wear the #12 jersey this season, likely leading the Tennessee offense under center in 2017. Emmanuel Moseley will also wear the number, because the college football duplicate number system is dumb.

Other notable 12s: Lucas Taylor, Nathan Peterman, Corey Fleming, Randy Sanders, Terry Fair
