Shatar McClay Decommits from Tennessee

The 2018 class continues to shuffle.

Shatar McClay, listed as a 5-11, 170 pound athlete, has decided to decommit from Tennessee at this time. McClay is from Clarksville, Tennessee.

McClay is listed as a three star prospect by 247 Sports and a four star by ESPN. He committed to Tennessee on April 13th.

He told Volquest.com that Tennessee was his “home team” and that the Vols gave him his first offer. He also mentioned that he loved Butch Jones to death.

McClay didn’t offer a reason why — few decommits do — but you have to wonder if the recent commitments of Brandon Cross and Tanner Ingle had anything to do with it. Rivals lists McClay as a cornerback, so that would make three already on the commitment list. Pure speculation here, however.

Tennessee was easily McClay’s most prestigious reported offer. Indiana, Western Kentucky, UMass, Samford and Purdue are the others in the hunt, but we’ll see if any new players come to the table.
