Vols forward Grant Williams working his long range shot.

247 Sports spoke with Tennessee assistant coaches and Grant Williams about the offseason program yesterday. Williams said that he’s been working on extending his range out to 15+ feet. Williams mentioned an improved handle, too. The addition of a consistent jumper to Grant’s game would be huge for Tennessee. He’s undersized playing the 4/5 positions, so this can only help his offensive production.

Tennessee hires new Associate AD

John Currie has hired Kurt Gulbrand as his “Senior Associate AD for Development.” There’s a theme here — Gulbrand spent the last five years at Colorado primarily as a fund raiser. It’s widely believed that Currie landed the AD gig because of his ability to raise money, so this fits that narrative once again. Tennessee’s goal seems clear right now.

#1 RB prospect commits to Georgia

Zamir White — a 6-2, 220 pound running back — has committed to Kirby Smart and Georgia. He will undoubtedly take the place of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel next season. He’s the number one running back in the country and number six overall prospect, according to 247 sports.

Tennessee on track to add two receivers by July

Jacquez Jones and Jordan Murphy — two three star receivers from the 2017 class — are expected to join Tennessee by early July. This is going to create even more competition for what is an already foggy picture behind Jauan Jennings, Josh Smith, Tyler Byrd and Marquez Callaway.
