Dorian Gerald — a three star JUCO defensive end prospect — released his top five schools in order on Twitter earlier this week. You don’t typically see prospects rank schools, so it’s interesting to say the least that Tennessee is number one here.
Top 5‼️
— Dorian Gerald (@TopNotchDG) June 27, 2017
1.Tennessee #VolNation
2.South Carolina #SpursUp
3.Louisville #L1C4 ⚫️
4.Florida #GoGators
5.LSU #GeauxTigers
Gerald is 6-3, 255 pounds and currently playing at College of the Canyons. He visited Knoxville on June 7th. South Carolina is thought of as the leaders for Gerald, but according to the tweet — Tennessee has closed that gap and possibly taken the lead.
With all of the issues Tennessee has had up front, Gerald has to see an opportunity with Tennessee. The Volunteers have numbers at defensive end, but the depth chart and rotation is hardly set in stone. Jonathan Kongbo and Kyle Phillips will be seniors by the time Gerald enrolls, too.
Gerald holds offers from Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Oklahoma. His top five certainly seems to reflect a need to play early, however. Gerald is one to watch in the coming weeks.
