Here’s the latest round-up of Tennessee recruiting news to get your Friday rolling.
Master Teague Update
Murfreesboro product and Tennessee target Master Teague is set to perform in front of Ohio State’s coaching staff today. Teague is only a three star prospect, but he’s generating some big time interest. He became a bigger priority for the Vols after Jashaun Corbin decommitted last month. Ohio State’s interest can’t be a good thing for Tennessee here. Teague doesn’t have a reported offer from the Buckeyes yet, but that could certainly change if he impresses this week.
A name to remember
Ani Izuchukwu is a 2019 defensive end target out of Davidson Academy. He has an amazing story, coming to America from Nigeria. SEC Country has a nice piece on him here. 12 offers and counting — Izuchukwu is going to be a hot commodity next season — Nick Saban is already hot on his trail.
Big time 2020 running back Miles Friday chose Tennessee on Thursday over the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. Friday was the 2nd big 2020 commitment of the week with the Leonard Manuel news coming down earlier this week. It’s so early for both Friday and Manuel — but landing their pledges this early on can’t hurt.
Jaylon Reed fallout
Tennessee lost their lone cornerback commitment earlier this week when Jaylon Reed chose to reopen his recruitment. Now, Butch Jones and staff will be scrambling to replace him within the class. Expect them to turn up the wick on Jaycee Horn. They have some work to do with South Carolina in the clear driver’s seat, however. Jaylon King and Brandon Cross are likely back up options.
