It’s preseason watch list season and we have a couple of Volunteers appearing on two of the lists to this point.
Ethan Wolf has been named to the John Mackey Award Preseason watch list, which is handed out to the nation’s top tight end. Wolf has yet to really establish himself statistically in Tennessee’s passing attack, but that may change under new offensive coordinator Larry Scott.
Wolf has just 67 catches for 752 yards and 4 touchdowns during his three years at Tennessee.
Wolf is one of a couple pass catchers left on Tennessee’s roster with experience heading into this season. It would certainly make sense to involve Wolf more in the offense — at least more in the passing attack. Wolf will of course be a key player in Tennessee’s run blocking scheme, as he has been for three seasons now.
Additionally, Trevor Daniel has been named to the Ray Guy Award Preseason watch list. Daniel returns for his final season as one of the clear cut top punters in the nation. Daniel ranked 11th in the NCAA in average yards per punt last season at 44.6.
Good luck to both in their final seasons at Tennessee.
