To the surprise of some, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones is a finalist for the Dodd Trophy, which is the top honor given to the best coach of the most current season.
The trophy not only reflects success on the field, but it also reflects high achievements in academics, integrity, and leadership.
Tennessee has enjoyed moderate success on the field under Jones, and despite his clichés and mostly cookie-cutter attitude - the Vols have excelled greatly in the classroom and in the community.
Jones joins Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney, Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh - arguably college football’s top coaches - amongst many others on the list.
No one expects Jones to win this award this season, but if he were to do so it would signal the end result of an excellent season for Tennessee.
Congrats, Coach Jones! We wish you the best of luck this year!
19 coaches. 6 conferences. A combined 194-62 record in 2016.
