Where did the Vols land?

Sporting News has released another batch of top 25 rankings, this time from Bill Bender. He ranks Tennessee 25th in the nation, which has been the standard from most media outlets.

Here’s what Sporting News had to say about the #25 Tennessee Volunteers.

This is a pivotal season for Butch Jones, who has danced from hot seat and high expectations through his time on Rocky Top. The Vols have a lot of talent to replace, and that starts at quarterback. Quinten Dormady and Jarrett Guarantano will continue to sort that out at fall camp.

With all the talent that exited Knoxville last year, I have no problem with putting Tennessee 25th overall.

Alabama, of course, landed at the #1 spot. USC, Ohio State and Florida State followed. Georgia landed 10th overall, riding a wave of hype similar to what Tennessee experienced last year. They’re expected by most to win the SEC East.

Florida landed 15th, but faces a daunting schedule that includes Michigan and Florida State on top of a full SEC slate. LSU — who will come to Knoxville this year — checked in at 14th.

Auburn was the only other SEC school on the list at 11th overall.

What do you think? Is 25th fair for the Vols? I absolutely believe it is.
