It’s one of the best weeks of the offseason.

NCAA Football: SEC-Media Day Shanna Lockwood-USA TODAY Sports

This is your weekly round-up of SEC News! Take a look at all the happenings around our conference. Because it just means more, ya know?

SEC Media Days are this week

The final event of the offseason before camp opens starts tomorrow. It’s SEC Media Days week! Butch Jones will be the final coach to speak on Monday afternoon. He is taking an interesting group of players with him. Expect lots of coach speak and little substance out of Butch, per the usual. Nick Saban, Bret Bielema and maybe even Ed Orgeron will be the stars of the week.

We’ll have plenty of coverage here at Rocky Top Talk. The full schedule is here.

Arkansas - Notre Dame Schedule Home and Home

This will be the first meeting between the two schools. The first game will be played in 2020 in South Bend. In 2025, Notre Dame will head down to Fayetteville. Arkansas AD Jeff Long had this to say in his release. “This series will benefit our football program, our university and the Southeastern Conference, but more importantly it is an opportunity for our football student-athletes to compete against one of college football’s storied programs while providing a premier match-up for our fans.”

Florida makes LSU their homecoming opponent

In a bold move, Florida will make LSU their homecoming opponent this season. I’m sure you remember the debacle that was Florida-LSU last season. The game was initially going to be cancelled, giving Florida a big time advantage in the SEC East. After a war of words, the game was finally rescheduled for November. To Florida’s credit, they went to Baton Rouge and won, taking control of the East. The two schools are hardly over it, however. This is just the latest development in the rivalry.

Cook decommits from FSU, Georgia bound?

James Cook — Dalvin’s little brother — decommited from Florida State this week. Nearly every recruiting analyst is connecting his dots to Kirby Smart and Georgia. Georgia has already landed Zamir White, the top back in the 2018 class. This could be Todd Gurley/Keith Marshall, Nick Chubb/Sony Michel all over again. Kirby Smart is going to be a problem in the SEC East, I’m afraid.
