Former Tennessee star defensive end Derek Barnett will miss some playing time with the Philadelphia Eagles due to an injury according to a report from Pro Football Talk.

Barnett, who was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, has gotten off to hot start during the preseason with the Eagles, is “day to day” after sustaining a “lower body injury” according to head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson also announced that Barnett did not participate with the team during workouts on Sunday.

Despite seeing limited playing time thus far in the preseason, Barnett has managed to record three sacks in the Eagles first two preseason games. There was also a report that Barnett would begin working out with the first team and even see early playing time versus the Dolphins next week. However, at the moment there is no timetable for his return nor an idea of the severity (if any) of his injury.
