It’s been a long, winding road for the Tennessee Volunteers and Jaycee Horn. Once thought to be eliminated, Butch Jones and Tennessee came roaring back to change his mind. Horn pushed back his commitment date, putting the Volunteers back in the mix. He took one more round of visits before ultimately announcing his decision tonight.
Tonight he announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee.
Horn announced live at the SEC Country studios.
Jaycee is the son of former NFL receiver Joe Horn. He’s considered a four star prospect according to 247 Sports, Rivals and ESPN. The 6-0, 180 pound cornerback chose Tennessee over South Carolina and Alabama.
Will Muschamp and South Carolina were considered to be in the driver’s seat for much of the summer, but Tennessee made a late surge — likely beginning with Orange Carpet day.
The addition of Horn brings Tennessee their fourth four star commitment in the secondary, joining Trey Dean and Brendon Harris. Horn boosts a 2018 cornerback group that already features three stars Brandon Cross and Tanner Ingle.
Seniors Justin Martin, Emmanuel Moseley and Shaq Wiggins will leave a void in the secondary next year. However, with the early returns in camp from freshmen corners Cheyenne Labruzza and Shawn Shamburger, Tennessee appears locked and loaded at the position for the next few seasons. Bob Shoop and Charlton Warren have to be thrilled to add Jaycee Horn to that mix.
