The Tennessee coaching staff has no interest in naming a starting quarterback. Call it gamesmanship — call it an ongoing competition — the Volunteers are remaining tight lipped about the situation.
Running back John Kelly seems to know something that we don’t, however.

Kelly is seemingly suggesting that the starting quarterback has been named behind closed doors. Here’s his complete quote.
"I mean, we know who's going to be the starting quarterback," he added, "but it's going to be a good one."
Junior Quinten Dormady has seemed to have the advantage for most of the offseason after a strong performance in the orange and white game. But Jarrett Guarantano’s upside seems to be keeping him in the battle.
As I speculated today, I’m still betting both guys play against Georgia Tech. It just feels like the staff wants to get a sense of how these two perform in a game situation. According to Kelly though, it does sound like we’ll get an official “starter.”
