It’s officially game week for the Tennessee Volunteers. Head coach Butch Jones is entering year five at the helm of Tennessee football. Before he kicks off his fifth season, let’s take the pulse of the fanbase, shall we?
First, let’s get the facts out there.
Butch Jones has a 30-21 record in four seasons at Tennessee. However, he’s just 14-18 record in SEC play during that time span. He’s led the Volunteers to three straight dominating bowl wins.
Jones has restored much of the talent back to the program. Derek Dooley didn’t leave the roster in good shape for Butch, but things have stabilized over the past couple of recruiting cycles. Tennessee currently holds the 6th ranked class in the nation for 2018.
Record against rivals: Florida (1-3), Alabama (0-4), Georgia (2-2), Vanderbilt (2-2), Kentucky (4-0), South Carolina (3-1), Missouri (2-2).
Record progression: 5-7 —> 7-6 —> 9-4 —> 9-4 —> ?
So entering the 2017 college football season, where do you stand on Butch Jones?
