Hardesty, who was coaching running backs and special teams at Norfolk State previously, played for Tennessee from 2005-2009. During his career with the Vols, Hardesty rushed for 2,391 yards and 26 touchdowns, including 1,345 yards and 14 touchdowns under Kiffin in 2009.
Following a successful career in Knoxville, Hardesty was picked up in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Browns. Following an NFL career that was hampered by injuries, Hardesty took up an intern coaching position with Chowan College in North Carolina before being hired by Norfolk State in 2015.
