Tennessee-Florida: Volunteers Open as Underdogs vs. Gators

Vegas likes the Gators.

And with that, it’s officially Florida week. It’s one of the biggest weeks of the year for Tennessee fans, players and coaches. The Tennessee Volunteers finally broke the streak last year, beating the Gators after roaring back in the second half. Can they start to build a streak of their own? If they are to do so, they’re going to have to do it as underdogs.

The Florida Gators have opened as 5 point favorites on most gambling sites. Experts say home field accounts for about three points, so keep that in mind here.

The interesting thing about this game is that we just don’t know a whole lot about either team. Tennessee came out on top of Georgia Tech’s flexbone option and breezed through Indiana State Saturday.

All we have seen out of Florida is a contest in which they were dominated by Michigan, but were missing plenty of key players due to suspension. They were forced to cancel their tune up game this weekend due to Hurricane Irma.

So what do we know about this game? It’s probably going to be low scoring. The total hasn’t been released yet, but it shouldn’t be too far north of 40 points. It may even be lower than that.

Tennessee is 0-2 against the spread this year, if you’re keeping track. What do you think about this line?
