Tennessee head coach Butch Jones didn’t make things any better following a heartbreaking 26-20 loss to the Florida Gators. Tennessee tied things up late, just to allow Florida to get behind their secondary and score the game winner as time expired.
If you haven’t seen it, here it is one last time.
The play.

The sights.
The sounds. @GatorsFB will remember this for a long, long time. pic.twitter.com/lMyJXmYZTf
Jones was asked about the final play and gave this answer.
Butch on final play: "We were in a nickel. But with injuries, we didn’t have a dime."

I had to look twice to make sure it wasn’t a joke.
In a situation like that, you put all your defenders at the goal line and tell them to knock it down. Georgia actually did this correctly last year against Tennessee, Jauan Jennings just got in front and made a play.
There’s no excuse for this. You could have put Marquez Callaway back there. Put Jeff George back there. Nickel and dime packages go out the window. It really doesn’t matter who is back there, just tell them to knock the ball down. It was just like the Georgia play last year.
Sure Evan Berry and Todd Kelly Jr. weren’t available, but this wasn’t a normal play. All you had to do was no give up a touchdown. There’s no excuse to have two men back there guarding two Gators.
Butch was asking for trouble and he got it. There’s absolutely no excuse for not having more men back there.
