Tennessee opens as big favorite over UMass

Vegas likes the Vols, a lot.

The Tennessee Volunteers will try to pick themselves up off the floor on Saturday against the UMass Minutemen. Butch Jones and company will be at Neyland Stadium for the next three contests. They’ll attempt to clean up some mistakes against UMass this weekend as they get set to host the Georgia Bulldogs.

UMass is 0-4, coming off losses to Temple, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina and Hawaii. They kept each of those games close, however. Offshore sportsbooks don’t buy that they can keep it close against Tennessee though.

The opening line has been set at 26.5, per BetOnline.

Interestingly enough, Tennessee is 0-3 against the spread this year. The line closed at -5.5 on Saturday in Gainesville. The Vols didn’t cover that spread, thanks to the hail mary at the end.

We’ll see if they can get their first cover of the season on Saturday at noon in Knoxville. Hopefully we’ll see some progress made offensively.
