Running back John Kelly, linebacker Cortez McDowell, defensive tackle Kendal Vickers and center Jashon Robertson will serve as captains for opening night. Kelly is the lone junior to be named a captain.
Robertson will move from guard to center this year as freshman Trey Smith takes over his spot at guard. McDowell will join senior Colton Jumper as a starter at linebacker following Darrin Kirkland Jr.’s season-ending injury.
Kelly is expected to be the key piece in Tennessee’s offense. We named him our No. 1 most important player during the offseason.
