For the first time in over 20 years, the Tennessee Volunteers were shut out. The 41-0 beatdown today at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs was the first time the Vols didn’t score a single point since 1994.
That came against the Florida Gators, who trounced the Vols 31-0.
Today seemed to set the tone for the rest of the season. Butch Jones and the Tennessee program brought out the gray jerseys, checkered Neyland and even Peyton Manning. None of it worked.
Tennessee was overpowered. I’m not sure how you get off the mat from this one. The Vols may be 3-2, but they have no identity. The offense is absolutely broken and the defense can’t carry this team. Unfortunately, this team is just flat out bad.
This is going to be an interesting week, especially after Butch Jones fanned the flames last week and blamed the media.
UPDATE: This was the worst loss at home for Tennessee since 1905.
In terms of point margin, this was Tennessee's worst loss at home since losing 45-0 to Vanderbilt in 1905.
