Game day is officially upon us ladies and gentlemen. Allow me to introduce the first of many injury reports throughout the season.
Both teams come into the 2017 season missing key players at crucial positions.
Here are the injury reports for both teams:
Tennessee Volunteers:
Darrin Kirkland Jr., LB - A huge blow for the Vols defense as their best player is out for the season with a knee injury.
Austin Smith, LB - Another knee injury at a position of dire need. Hopefully Smith won’t miss a significant amount of time.
Drew Richmond, OT - He is suspended for only the season opener, but hopefully it doesn’t cost Tennessee anything.
Josh Smith and Shy Tuttle, WR/DT: Both are still game-time decisions. Even if one of them played, it would be a huge boost.
Jacquez Jones, WR - Out for the season with a knee injury.
UPDATE: WR Josh Smith has been ruled out.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets:
David Curry, LB - The backup LB is out for the game with a lower body injury.
Andrew Marshall, OT - The senior is out for the game with a lower body injury.
Clinton Lynch, RB - There has been no update thus far. An absent Lynch could spell disaster for Tech.
Dedrick Mills - Dismissed from the team for a violation of atheltic department rules. Definitely the biggest hit for the Jackets.
The injuries will only add intrigue to arguably the most interesting season opener of all-time.
Go Vols!
