Tennessee opened SEC play with a thud, imploding down the stretch and losing to a pretty good Arkansas team. That loss brought the Vols to 9-3 overall, but didn’t hurt them all that much in today’s AP Poll.
After climbing to 19th last week, Tennessee fell to 23rd this week. I mentioned before the game this weekend that Arkansas probably should be ranked, now they are. They cracked the top 25 in the AP Poll today, checking in at No. 22.
The SEC now has four teams inside the top 25. Texas A&M falls to No. 11 after a shellacking at the hands of Alabama. Kentucky is now ranked 17th after dismantling Louisville and gutting out a win over Georgia.
Tennessee will see those Wildcats at Thompson-Boling Arena on Saturday night. However, Bruce Pearl and the Auburn Tigers will pay a visit to Knoxville before that on Tuesday night.
Pearl has Auburn 12-1, but has faced a really light schedule to this point. Their visit to Knoxville will let us know what kind of team the Tigers are. I’ll have a full preview up of that game later on tonight, so watch for that.
