Tennessee Football: Jeremy Pruitt leaves the door open for dismissed receiver Jauan Jennings to return

Could a return be in the cards?

In Jeremy Pruitt’s media availability today, he confirmed that he has reached out to Jauan Jennings. The new Tennessee head coach said that he would like to meet with the dismissed receiver.

“I know Jauan has reached out to Coach Fulmer and I know they’ve met,” Pruitt said. “I actually reached out to (Jennings). With him talking to Coach Fulmer I felt like I should do that. There will be a time in the next couple of days where me and (Jennings) can sit down and see where things are at.”

To recap, Jennings was dismissed from the program after posting an Instagram live video, ranting about the coaching staff, Vanderbilt and other things. It was reported that Jennings was expected to return for the final game of the 2017 season, after missing 10 games after sustaining an injury against Georgia Tech.

Jennings antics reportedly went beyond this Instagram post. His absence throughout the season was called into question by many.

The interesting part in all of this was that Jennings was dismissed by then interim head coach Brady Hoke and athletics director John Currie, who has since been fired. Jennings has since met with new AD Phillip Fulmer.

One thing is clear here. The door for Jennings to return is wide open. He’s going to have to say the right things and convince the new staff with his actions that he’s worth another chance.
