With four key contributors at cornerback moving on, the Tennessee depth chart is pretty thin. Justin Martin, Emmanuel Moseley, Shaq Wiggins and Rashaan Gaulden’s departures have created an opportunity for some of these recruits to come in and play right off the bat.
Olaijah Griffin and Isaac Taylor-Stuart have been two of the main targets for Pruitt’s staff so far, but another name has now emerged. It’s three star Eddie Smith, a former TCU commit. No surprise here, but Alabama is also after Smith.
After his visit to Knoxville this weekend, Smith told VolQuest.com that Tennessee is now his leader.

At 6-1, Smith fits the prototype with what Tennessee has been looking for at corner. Though just a three star prospect according to 247 Sports, Smith has Alabama, Mississippi State, Missouri and Arkansas after him.
He’s scheduled to visit Mississippi State and Alabama in the coming weekends. Tennessee may have the lead now, but there are still two key weekends to go.
