Tennessee Recruiting: Vols offer 2018 Oklahoma commit

An interesting athlete.

Most of Tennessee’s offers these days are going out to 2019 and 2020 kids. Jeremy Pruitt and his staff are getting set to take the next recruiting cycles by storm, but they’re far from finished with the 2018 class. They’ve made another to a 2018 recruit this week.

It’s Treveon Johnson, an athlete out of Texas. Johnson is currently committed to the Oklahoma Sooners. He tweeted out the offer yesterday.

The wording of the tweet is interesting. “Truly fortunate to receive an offer to play both WR and DB at the University of Tennessee,” Johnson said.

At 6-1, 179 pounds, Johnson has the size to play either position. We’ve seen Tennessee target long corners that can play physical at the line of scrimmage, so he certainly fits that bill.

Johnson is a three star prospect, according to 247 Sports.

He committed to Oklahoma in the summer of 2017, but didn’t sign during the early signing period. Johnson will visit Arkansas this weekend, so things seem to be somewhat open here. Can Tennessee make enough progress to land a visit before national signing day?
