What a wild couple of months it’s been for Jauan Jennings. After a junior season that was lost due to a wrist injury, Jennings was booted off the team by interim head coach Brady Hoke and former athletics director John Currie.
The dismissal followed an Instagram live video which was posted from Jennings’ account, ranting about the previous coaching staff, among other things. Jennings reportedly had been a less-than-stellar teammate during his injury.
With a new staff and AD in place, the door was left open for Jennings to return to the team. Per this post from his Instagram, it appears that Jennings was able to seize that opportunity.

Obviously nothing has been officially announced yet, but I think we can count Jauan as a member of this football team going forward.
One thing is for sure. Jennings is going to be on thin ice with this staff, even if half the reports about his antics were true. However, he’s a guy that this team could really use on the field. Outside of a few bright spots from Marquez Callaway and Brandon Johnson, Tennessee failed to find a consistent playmaker at receiver last year. Part of that was obviously the quarterback play, but nobody was able to step up for Jarrett Guarantano, Quinten Dormady or Will McBride.
With a new staff in place, it’s exciting to think about the potential of Jennings paired with Callaway — who was criminally under-used last season.
Jennings will look to build off of a breakout sophomore campaign where he caught 40 passes for 580 yards and seven touchdowns. The 6-3 senior will be a massive upgrade for whoever ends up under center for Tennessee in 2018.
