Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve been covering some new faces in the recruiting world. New Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt has opened the door for the Vols to get in on some elite talent in the 2018 cycle. One of the first names to pop up was JJ Peterson, a top ranked outside linebacker prospect.
Peterson is the number two overall outside linebacker, checking in inside of 247 Sports’ top 50 rankings. The four star prospect was heavily favored to land with Alabama just a month ago, but Pruitt and his staff are pretty clearly making some headway.
How’s this for progress?
Tennessee has received the last seven Crystal Ball picks for Georgia four-star JJ Peterson. He's the nation's #2 OLB and a top 50 overall prospect

Checking the crystal ball prediction for myself, you’ll find a near 50-50 split between Alabama and Tennessee now.
Peterson has done a little bit of everything at Colquitt County High School — who just happens to be coached by Rush Propst, Jeremy Pruitt’s former boss from Hoover High. Peterson rushes off the edge, plays off the line of scrimmage at linebacker and has even returned some kicks. That should give you an idea of how athletic he is.
Once Pruitt returns to Knoxville, expect Peterson to be among his top targets as we near the traditional signing day.
